“These are the things which you should do; speak the truth to one another, judge with truth and judgment for peace in your gates.” (Zechariah 8:16 NLT)
“Employing tricks to create truth.” Those were the words spoken by Greg Gutfield on The Five this past week. They were related to the fake news about Donald Trump’s ignoring of a handicapped child as he shook hands with everyone else.
One portion of the video showed Trump shaking hands with everyone except the child. However, another portion of the video showed us the real side of Donald Trump. He not only bent down toward the small child, but he touched him and spoke with him.
Some in the media have gotten so out of control. To think they can twist the truth according to their bias is absurd. That’s not truth. It’s called trickery. And we see it almost every day; everyone doing what’s “right in their own eyes.” Is it right, or just a ploy to get the audience to believe the lie over truth?
Beth Moore in her book on the life of the Apostle Paul states, “Few things are more disgusting than a political spiel that bears no resemblance to the truth.” I agree. May we each not only be cautious about what we hear presented as truth, but may we also evaluate all that we say and do in line with God’s truth.
Lord, help us all to speak your truth over our own. We do that by hearing what Your Word has to say as we spend time reading it.
